Aachen University Enjoys Top Reputation in Business

RWTH Aachen has an excellent reputation in the business field. The university ranking in the magazine "WirtschaftsWoche" again proves this. The magazine placed the  Aachen university in first place for engineering and the natural sciences, in its April 8, 2013 issue. RWTH Aachen is ranked the leading university nationally in five out of the nine subject areas under consideration.

In the university ranking published in the current edition of the German economics magazine WirtschaftsWoche, RWTH Aachen tops five of the survey's subject tables: it is again ranked as the best German university in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Natural Sciences, and Business and Engineering. The University now also tops the ranking in Computer Science, moving up from last year’s second place, together with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

For the WirtschaftsWoche survey, about 500 human resources managers of the largest German companies from all industry sectors were asked which research and educational institutions prepared their graduates best for a career in industry, providing an education that is geared to the needs of the profession and the workplace. Again, the HR managers confirmed the excellent qualification of RWTH graduates.

According to RWTH Rector Ernst Schmachtenberg, the outstanding ranking result demonstrates that RWTH is on a good path towards achieving its major goal: "By 2020, RWTH shall be one of the best integrated, interdisciplinary universities of technology worldwide." He emphasized that despite the double cohort of secondary school graduates, the research-led university will continue offer its students excellent study conditions.
